MA Salgueiro was founded on December 20, 1974 by the CEO Manuel Alves Salgueiro.
However, the business dates back to 1954 Mr. Salgueiro started the trade of raw materials (wool, cottons, jute).
In 1985, Manuel Silva Salgueiro, son of the founder, took the leadership of the company, enabling Portuguese consumers the access to the most beautiful and authentic oriental rugs.
Today, with over 120 specialized employees, the company MA Salgueiro is a national reference in the Interior Design branch.
Based in Espinho, the company’s facilities covering an area of 12,000m2, in which 1,200m2 are dedicated to a show-room exclusively for business customers.

Manuel Alves Salgueiro starts the activity in individual name, in the trade of raw materials, such as wool,cotton and jute.
1974
Formally constituted the firm Manuel Alves Salgueiro & Cª, Lda.
Main activity: Wholesale in textiles, including Rugs and Decoration acessorize.
1984
MA Salgueiro begins to sale Oriental Rugs.
1985
MA Salgueiro exhibition of oriental rugs at Casino da Póvoa.
Decad of 90
1st Participation in the international fair of Valência (Spain).
MA Salgueiro begins it's international experience.
1993
Deployment of the company in current facilities.
1995
Release Gabeh rugs, produced by nomadic tribes of Iran and the most prized by national and international collectors.
1996
Participation in the exhibition at the Centro Cultural de Belém - "The most beautiful tapestries in the world".
Launch of the 1st catalogue of tapestries, MA Salgueiro was the 1st company in this industry to take this step.
1997
Beginning of express delivery, with deliveries of orders within 24 hours.
2001
Creation of the I&D department - responsible for their own collections and beginning of the production of Taylor-made tapestries.
2002
Creation of the current Showroom.
2004
Establishment of the Call Center.
MA Salgueiro begins to sale skins.
1st Participation in the largest international trade fair for carpets - Domotex.
2008
1st Participation at Meuble Paris in January 2008.
2009
1st Participation in international fair Maison&Objet_Setember Edition (Paris).
2010

2017
In pursuit of the goal set for 2017 of developing the French market , M. A. Salgueiro will be exhibiting for the first time at EspritMeuble in Paris, from the 2nd to the 5th December.
2018
1st Participation in international fair Meubelbeurs Brussel for Benelux market development
2019
1st participation in the international fair Imm Cologne with the goal to achieve Germany market.
2020
1st participation in the international fair Home Decor - Poznan (Poland) with the goal to achieve new markets.
Since the beginning MASalgueiro that have been associated with local institutions and national non-profit develop a social work of merit.

Between 2002 and 2005, offered four annual scholarships to students of secondary schools in Espinho. |
In 2006, it offered all the carpets collected in a campaign to Resume Rugs Charity to organization SOS Villages. |
In 2009, the company has already sold rugs soliciting donations for operations of the Portuguese League Against Cancer, the Espinhenses Volunteer Firefighters and Swimming Section of Sporting Club Espinho, and offered additional material to sport the Sporting Club Reboleira. |
